A good opening film attracts audiences as it makes them want to watch the rest of the film as they want to see what happens, like in horrors a good opening will keep you wondering and wanting to know who killer is or what is happening to the characters and do they survive it.

The purpose of a title sequence and film opening is to tell the audience the genre of film they are watching, This can be done in the layout so blood droplets off a knife to show horror, it can also be shown by who's directed the film and the actors involved. We can be told this as certain actors and directors are commonly associated with a type of genre.
