Conclusion about title sequences

Most films title sequences start with the name of the companies that were involved in producing the film, they are then followed by scene setters such as a historical films telling us key dates and events that happened at the time the film was set so if it was 1945 it would have been the II world war and probably set on D-day, the Normandy landings or V-day. If It was a film about some one's life it would be started with narration of the start of there life like when they were born and where they were born and what happened in there childhood. In Sci-Fi films it would be set with credits telling us the year it's set and whats happening at the time like a civil war or something like that.

Analyzing 2 film title sequences

In star wars it starts by setting the scene with text telling us whats happened so far in that world and sets the scene for whats about to happen. The colors used stand out making it easy for all people to read as they need to read it to understand the film.

The title for Spectre shows us a little bit of whats to happen but doesn't tell us exactly what will happen and shows us the villain of the film as a black figure it suggests what the villain is associated with. this makes you keep wanting to watch as you want to see exactly what happens to James Bond and how he defeats the villain.

This is different to star-wars as it doesn't set the scene for the audience as it's a less complicated film to understand and is based on a more realistic world where star wars is set in the future.

What makes a good title sequence according to Kyle Cooper

It makes you thrilled to be in this theater at this moment, getting ready to see this movie. It makes you glad that you are nowhere else in the world except where you are, getting ready to see something amazing.
This means that the film makes you feel included and takes you into a virtual reality of being in that film following the characters around and feeling what they feel as well as making a viewer want to find out whats going to happen.

Findings in a genre

In most genre you find common similarities that are always used.

Western

Western usually have cowboys a villain, horses, old west, bar keeper, saloon, fist fights and shootouts.

Sci-fi

Sci-fi usually contains aliens, space, spaceships, in the future and has lots of futuristic technology

Fantasy

Fantasy usually has some form of magic, monsters, heroes, villains, swords and medieval based

War

War films always have Officers, Sargent, Comradeship, Battles and deaths

These are the common things found in these genres.

My chosen genre is horror

Settings: most horror are set in a scary place e.g. woods, abandoned house, small isolated town, grave yard. This is because these are places that every day people have fears of so would be the easy way to scare them as they wouldn't want them to be put in that place so because they are following the characters as an audience they become scared.
Type: There are a few different types of horror e.g. paranormal, slasher, monsters and gore.
These like settings are people's fears like monsters attacking people in there sleep in a common dream so is effective.

What is Genre

Genre is a specific type, style or subject matter. It can have elements of different genre so would be split into a sub genre.

Genre have changed over the years as certain things are now socially acceptable when in the past they were unacceptable and in some cases illegal e.g. showing explicit images
In the 1960's it was illegal to show this. This is because it would have been seen as morally wrong Nowadays most films contain this if they are over a 12. This shows a dramatic change in genre as it used to be illegal and now it's shown to 12 year old kids.
